Miss Emma Hurst
Senior Assistant Principal
After achieving a BA Honours degree in English Studies, Miss Hurst gained a PGCE with QTS in Primary Education from Northumbria University at Newcastle in 2002 and since then has taught all age groups across Key Stage 2 in UK primary schools in Gateshead, inner-city Manchester and Sheffield.
From September 2007 until her move to GEMS Jumeirah Primary School, Miss Hurst was the Deputy Head Teacher of a large primary school in Penistone, Sheffield. While Deputy, Miss Hurst worked in very close partnership with the Head Teacher, moving the school from ‘Satisfactory’ to ‘Outstanding’ within a short time frame. As a result of the successful leadership within her own school, Miss Hurst worked with the Local Education Authority to help build capacity and improve middle leaders and Deputy Heads in other schools. In recognition of this work, Miss Hurst was recently appointed as a Specialist Leader of Education for the National College of School Leaders.
